Phennex Heating Solutions install both domestic air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps in Clay Cross and the surrounding area. We also install heat pump systems for commercial premisses nationwide.
These are the two types of heat pump common in the UK. Ground source heat pumps take latent energy stored in the earth. Air source heat pumps tap similar energy in the air around your property and it is air source heat pumps which are most common in Clay Cross and throughout the UK.
As of 23 October 2023, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme heat pump grant increased to £7,500 for air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps in Clay Cross and throughout the UK. Up from £6,000, respectively. This puts many heat pumps in roughly the same cost range as a good gas boiler.
This was confirmed in an announcement by the UK Government in September 2023.
Air source heat pumps can extract heat from air as cold as -15c so even on the coldest of nights, your heat pump will remain operational.
An air source heat pump does require electricity to run and so will increase your electricity bills (assuming you don’t already have an electric heating system). However, the saving on natural gas of LLP vastly outstrips the cost of the additional electricity. Some properties in Clay Cross don’t have access to natural gas and so an air source heating system offers even better savings than LLP or Oil heating systems. It’s also much more environmentally friendly.
The heat in the air – particularly in places like Clay Cross – is not all that walm but heat energy is present. An air source heating system works by drawing that energy in and compressing it. The compressed heat retains the same energy but in a much more concentrated form. This concentrated hot air is then used to heat the liquid in radiators, underfloor heating and/or a water tank.
A heat pump uses electricity to provide both heating and cooling to a building. These appliances are efficient at transferring heat from one place to another, depending on where it’s needed.
In the winter, a heat pump provides heating by extracting heat from outside a building and moving it inside. In the summer, it can provide cooling by moving heat from indoors to the outside.
